Thank You Note to Moms (+ NY State Government Official) for A Great Night Out

What a week it has been from beginning to end. One that started and ended in New York. As I file this post, I’m traveling to a meeting in New York, and I can’t stop thinking of how grateful I feel for the support of millions of moms, companies and one particular assemblywoman who made this year’s National Mom’s Nite Out the best yet. Moms are usually the ones telling their children to write thank-you notes or say please and thank you. Now, it’s my turn to say thank you!

Last night, millions of Moms met at malls, restaurants and homes for the celebration before the official Mother’s Day holiday this Sunday. I had the rare pleasure of staying home to celebrate with my team and hundreds of Moms at the Town Center of Boca Raton. Special thanks to over 125 Simon Malls for hosting events across the country. At the Town Center, we enjoyed a yoga class, massages, food from California Pizza Kitchen, prize drawings and so much more.

Little Black Dress Vodka, a sponsor, had a red carpet area for Moms to enjoy special drinks. A special part of their promotion is the Dress for Success program. Dress for Success is an international non-profit organization that provides professional attire along with network support and career development tools for disadvantaged women. Through June 28th, you can bid on your favorite star’s ‘little black dress’ and support this terrific organization at LBDvodka.com.

What evening would be complete without chocolate? And not just any chocolate…Godiva!

Each year, National Mom’s Nite Out grows in strength and numbers. While I was in New York for a meeting on Monday, I received an email from Bronx Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera, who informed me that she was proposing a resolution on the floor of the State Assembly in Albany, NY declaring Thursday, May 10th as National Mom’s Nite Out. Wow! What a thrill, and more importantly, an honor to have a government official recognize the event and the need for moms to take a break. As I was already in New York City, I changed my plans and flew to Albany to join Assemblywoman Rivera at the legislative session. In what was one of the best experiences in my professional career, I joined Rivera while the resolution was read and passed by the assembly. I am so grateful to Rivera, a mother of two and certainly a busy working mother, for her support of the event and for the recognition of moms everywhere.

I hope you were able to join in a celebration, either in person or online. We streamed a live show from the mall, followed by a Zales Twitter Party later in the evening. (Remember to check out Facebook.com/zales for an opportunity to win great prizes for the #Supermom in your life. Tell your husband, SO and kids to sign up nominating you as a #supermom!

Again, many thanks to all who made this one night of events a success. We couldn’t do it without Moms!
